Welcome to our April newsletter. In this edition we take a special look at community-based projects and how empowered communities are transforming places across Scotland.
The built environment touches almost every aspect of our lives – where we live and where we work, the buildings we use, our open spaces and the connections between them. For this reason it surely makes sense to put people at the heart of its design and yet this still seems to be the exception not the rule. This is frustrating as we know from experience how much better the outcomes are when people are actively involved in shaping their places.
Increasing the emphasis on community empowerment matters because only by working with communities to shape their places, can we create truly sustainable places that nurture a sense of identity. In this newsletter we profile our Stalled Spaces Scotland programme which we will celebrate in the Seeding Success event in early May, as well as profiling projects from across the country that are engaging, celebrating and empowering communities.
We hope you will join us in May!
