GRADUATION EXHIBIT: CALL FOR WORK
If you are graduating this semester or this summer, we need your best student work for the annual Graduation Exhibit from May 7 - 10 in the Korach Gallery. Please submit one piece of work that demonstrates your abilites or reflects your best work from your time at the University of Miami School of Architecture. Work can be originals or digital copies at maximum size of 36 by 48 inches (please include first and last name, faculty name, and course number on the back of your submission). Work may be turned in to the Academic Services office to either Julia Pizarro or Ivonne de la Paz. If you have any questions, please email Professor Joachim Perez. Deadline to submit is May 5 at 4:00 p.m.

ENTERPRISE ROSE ARCHITECTURAL FELLOWSHIP
The Enterprise Rose Architectural Fellowship partners early-career architects with local community development organizations for three-year fellowships, where they facilitate an inclusive approach to development that brings all stakeholders together to create green, sustainable, affordable communities. SEAN F. MELLON MEMORIAL ARCHITECTURAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
The Sean F. Mellon Memorial Architectural Scholarship is an award from SARA (Society of American Registered Architects New York Council) award to full-time students enrolled in an architectural program at a college or university in the United States. Deadline for submission is May 12.

SPRING DESIGN STUDIO REVIEWS CONTINUE THROUGH MAY 5
Undergraduate and Graduate Design Reviews will continue through Monday, May 5. These include Upper Level Studio presentations, Graduate Design II, Urban Design II, Masters Design Thesis, and Urban Infill, Preservation & Redevelopment.  View the complete schedule.

LECTURER ARMANDO MONTERO DESIGNS NEW REVIEW FORMAT
On Saturday the 26th, Lecturer Armando Montero tested his new review format for 3rd Year Comprehensive Design with 40 students and 16 reviewers. Student projects were reviewed individually by visiting professionals that included architects, engineers, contractors, building officials including Flavio Gomez Building Division Director - Miami Dade County office of Regulatory and Economic Resources. The student project was an Education and Event Center for Bok Tower in Lake Wales, Florida. Students were asked to design the project and integrate structural systems, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and sustainable practices using 3D modeling and analysis software. STUDENT COUNCIL HOSTS BLACK AND WHITE MASQUERADE BALL
Students and friends filled the decorated SOA courtyard last Saturday night. Dressed in various versions of black and white with the addition of masks, the students’ first order of business was to enjoy the always delicious menu of Shorty’s BBQ, polish off the meal with homemade desserts, and then move to the sounds of our deejay. It was a great success with thanks to the planning and logistics of the Student Council members.  A special round of applause to Stefani Fachini de Araujo, Daniella Cioffi and President Jonas Doggart. PROFESSOR CHAO WINS SERVICE AWARD
The William R. Butler Center for Volunteer Service and Leadership Development, along with the Division of Student Affairs, recognized outstanding University of Miami students and faculty for their service contributions throughout the past year at the 29th annual Celebration of Involvement ceremony held on Tuesday, April 22 in the Student Activities Center. Amongst all of the University faculty members, Sonia Chao, faculty at the School of Architecture and Director of the School's Center for Urban & Community Design was bestowed with the award of Excellence in Civic Engagement, presented by the Office of Civic and Community Engagement. Earlier in the year, Prof. Chao was also recognized by the University as one of its "Points of Pride" faculty.     


April 28 - May 31 Coral Gables, a Mediterranean City as Seen from Palermo, an exhibit of models and analyses produced by architecture students visiting Miami from Palermo, Italy during a special workshop taught by Assistant Professor in Practice and Rome Program Director Carmen Guerrero.  The exhibition is being shown at the Societa Dante Alighieri, 300 Aragon Avenue, Coral Gables and is sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Education.

May 2 The Better Half: Women's Contribution to Modern Architecture, lecture by Visiting Professor from Italy, Salvatore Santuccio, Universitá degli Studi di Camerino Scuola di Architettura and Eileen Gray: Unbuilt, lecture by Visiting Professor Francesco Maggio, Universitá degli Studi di Palermo Dipartimento di Architettura. Rinker Classroom, 12:30 p.m.

May 7, 8 and 9 Architecture Graduation Exhibition, Korach Gallery, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
Exhibition comprised of favorite piece of work by each graduate during their time at SOA. 
Curated by Part-Time Faculty Joachim Perez.
