With the long awaited release of the Naval Shipbuilding Plan on Tuesday, our Defence Week Premium has more coverage of the roadmap for what promises to be the biggest national endeavour of our time.

Deputy Editor-at-Large Nigel Pittaway is following the Special Purpose Aircraft replacement like a hawk and Editor Katherine Ziesing reports from Florida on the recent Inmarsat GX Satellite launch.

In a coup for Australian STEM efforts, the SUBS in Schools program will be exported to the UK and Sydney farewells for the last time today the FFG and fourth ship to bear the proud name of the city.

Finally, the finalists for the Essington Lewis Awards, which recognise outstanding CASG and Industry efforts to deliver ADF capability, have been announced. Trophies and certificates will be awarded at a gala dinner in Canberra on the 13th June 2017, one day before the D+I Conference,
