4 Social Media Tips to Reject at All Costs

There’s plenty of advice out there about social media. Some of it is fantastic, and some of it is worth average. But, some social media tips floating around out there are awful, and can hurt your brand. Never put credence into these so-called social media tips:

"Tip" #1: Facebook’s the only social network you need

Facebook is the world’s most popular network. Does that mean your business needs to be on Facebook? It is certainly a good starting point. But that doesn’t mean other networks are absolutely useless. The best social media marketers use all the best tools available to them to perform. This may include using Twitter, Google+, or Instagram to showcase one’s real estate brand.

Do you like to use images of happy families at their new homes as part of your content strategy? Consider making the switch to using brand images showing just children.

A recent study of Facebook images, published by five leading commercial brands, found that brand images on Facebook showing babies and kids earn 191% more shares than images of adults. These same images earned 238% more shares than images showing adults and children together.

Be sure to always get parental consent to use these images. But if they can be obtained, this can lead to greater engagement and brand recognition.

Create Holiday-themed Memes

Take advantage of people's excitement for the holidays! Create a funny holiday-themed meme and include the Twitter handle somewhere within the image.

Research shows that people are more likely to share funny content than important content on social media, because let's face it, we like to make others laugh! So spread your brand through this natural inclination towards humor.

You can re-publish content

Don’t go too crazy narrowing down your audience. While a large audience means you'd need a larger budget, any audience that is too small will not give you the results you want.

Keep the audience numbers in the range of 5,000-10,000 to get measurable results.
