Two clients open up about the emotional challenges of opioid replacement therapy.

Trish and Dwayne would agree that tackling an opioid addiction is not a journey for the faint-hearted. The two recently made the courageous decision to give up prescription painkillers in favour of Suboxone, a drug used to treat dependence on prescription or illegal opioids. For both of them, the negative physical and emotional effects of being addicted to prescription opioids got to be too much.

Do you have your BC Services Card? The CareCard will be retired in February 2018.

The CareCard has been replaced by the BC Services Card - a secure credential that combines your driver’s licence with your health information. The new card is designed to protect identity, improve patient safety, and help prevent fraud and misuse of health-care services. You need to enroll in the Medical Services Plan (MSP) by February 2018. Once you do so you will get your new BC Services Card in the mail. It’s easy and free!

This eight-minute video includes holistic solutions that are rooted in Indigenous perspectives of what it means to be healthy and well.

Forum on First Nations Housing hosted by BC Assembly of First Nations in Victoria

On March 13-14 the BC Assembly of First Nations (BCAFN) will be hosting a Forum on First Nations Housing. The objective is to allow BC First Nations leadership to engage in open socio-political discussions on housing issues in order to provide community-driven directives. This forum is a regional follow-up to the Assembly of First Nations National Forum on Housing and Infrastructure which took place in November 2016.

Indigenous women's land-based retreat - an opportunity for women with HIV or Hep C

Are you an Indigenous woman who has lived experience with HIV and/or Hep C (trans-inclusive, ages 18+, couples welcome to apply together) living in BC? The Positive Women's Network is looking for participants for a four-day, research-based, land-based gathering at Springbrooke Retreat Center in Langley, BC on March 23 - March 26.

Aboriginal youth from across BC invited to five-day video-making workshop in Langley

The workshop is called First Directions: Reclaiming our Bodies and is open to Aboriginal youth ages 15-29.  All travel, accommodation and food costs are covered. The workshop provides Indigenous youth with the knowledge to become community leaders and educators on sexual health and HIV.  Youth will learn how to create and produce films on these important topics. One of last year's films was screened at the Vancouver International Film Festival. Watch the film here.
