WE'RE BUILDING A LEGACY AT HOMECOMING 2018 Homecoming is always an exciting time of the year! Not only does the time mark a halfway point for Catamounts in their studies but a time to celebrate the accomplishment. Catamounts are one step closer to Building A Legacy. This year, we’re bringing annual favorites back to Cullowhee. Start your Homecoming week with getting a pumpkin at the LMP Pumpkin Patch and later the
wellRED Comedy Tour which is FREE to WCU students on Oct. 29th. On Oct. 30th, the Catamount Games begin along with FREE tie-dye and food on the UC Lawn. Halloween is the Homecoming Carnival, 31% off at the bookstore, and the Rocky Horror Shadow Picture Show. This year you voted for our Homecoming Performers: T-Pain and Blackbear at Ramsey Center. Catamounts get two headliners for less than the cost for one on Nov. 1st! Don’t worry, you’ll get to rest before the Homecoming Parade on Main Street on Nov. 2nd. On the same day, we’re bringing back Stompfest! Gameday on Nov. 3rd starting with the Zombie 5k then refuel at tailgating. Of course, come and cheer on the Catamounts while they do battle against The Citadel. After the game, there will be the African American Alumni Reception and LMP Movie Night with The Ant Man and The
Wasp. Ending our Homecoming week on Nov. 4th will be the Inspirational Choir Reception. Let’s build a legacy, Catamounts!
CELEBRATE THE GOOD NEWSFamily WeekendWe had an amazing Family Weekend! According to Dean of Students Kevin Koett, more than 2,300 (almost 800 families) joined us for three days of activities. The Student Talent Show, family activities, Catamount Capers mystery dinner, rafting, and athletic events all provided opportunities for students to show their families what makes WCU special. The weather was perfect, the energy was
contagious, and we set the bar high for next year! Check out the university's Flickr page to see some of the photos from the weekend.

On Friday, September 21, 2018, BFA student Todd Martin unveiled his public sculpture titled Wi. Wi was created in response to the 2017-2018 Campus Theme of Cherokee: Community. Culture. Connections. The sculpture is derived from the Cherokee Syllabary character Ꮻ (Wi), which denotes a geographic location, similar to ville or town. The sculpture is installed in the courtyard between Killian, Killian Annex, Forsyth, and Coulter buildings. This site was purposefully chosen, as it was once the center of a Cherokee village. Principal Chief Richard Sneed, of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, delivered remarks along with Brett Riggs, Sequoyah Distinguished Professor of Cherokee Studies and student artist Todd Martin.
