Hurricane ReliefMrs. Buie's 4th grade class needs your help! The students want to help those affected by the recent hurricane in Texas. After some research and communication with teachers in Texas, UDA students found that some schools in Texas are starting the school year with no school supplies, furniture, or books. The 4th grade class connected with two schools in Texas and are collecting donated school supplies to help make the start of their school year a little brighter. The students are collecting all kinds of school supplies (pencils, paper, crayons, scissors, etc) to send to their buddy schools in Texas. The collection will from now until Wednesday, September 20, and collection bins are located in the front lobby. Thank you for your donations. Every little bit helps! Second & Seventh GradeThe 7th graders have teamed up with 2nd grade buddies in Ms. Ogle's and Mrs. Niesen's classrooms. During this time, they read with their buddy, help with projects, and are working on fostering a community environment that spans across grade levels. Visual ArtsKindergarten students are exploring various materials and art techniques through the painting of tree crowns with natural sponges and watercolors. Students in 3rd grade are learning about abstract art, shapes, positive/negative space, and focal point. They are honing in on coloring skills before beginning work on their stained glass project. Seventh graders are drawing face and body parts. They are (re)discovering the ways they can use pencil to shade and draw a variety of lines: thin, thick, uneven, bumpy, broken, blurry, sharp, short, and long, as well as other unique ways.
