Have YOU Voted Yet?This month's meeting will include the election of the 2022 Regional Officers and Board of Directors. Voting will remain open online, via the button below, until Wednesday, November 17th. All Susquehanna SCCA Members are entitled to a vote, either online or in person at the November meeting, held on the 18th. The following board and officer positions are uncontested for
2021 and, therefore, will not appear as choices in this election survey. Regional Executive: Melissa Mauro Treasurer: Alan Lesher Secretary: Adam Dellinger Director (3 year): Rob Springer
The Assistant Regional Executive position is a contested board position this year, with two candidates nominated: Assistant Regional Executive: Rich Thomas (incumbent) and Mike Chilcote
Project Podium: Alan LesherBy Alan Lesher I am the owner of a 1996 Dodge Neon ACR (competition package) 4 door sedan. This car is now old enough to be recognized by the Antique Automobile Club of America as an antique. In addition, several vintage racing clubs now allow older, former Sports Car Club of America Showroom Stock class cars to enter. The previous owners raced it
34 times from 1997 to 2003. Here is a recap of the use (abuse?) I put the car through from 2004 to 2016. I first raced the car in the 2004, 12 Hours at Summit Point and that October in the 13 Hours at Virginia International Raceway. The next year, I entered the 12 Hours at Summit point and the 4 Hours at Watkins glen. The last long distance race was the 3 Hours at Pocono. Before each of the long races, the hubs and bearings, brake disks, calipers and pads were replaced. Drive axles were replaced as needed, every nut & bolt in the car was checked. Everything got thrown out & replaced after the 12 & 13 hour races regardless of condition. I had a cadre of drivers at the time who paid for seat time. I brought the car, they brought the money. In addition, there were 17 sprint races and 5 hillclimbs from 2004 to 2016,
after which the car saw only autocross use. If I did the math right, 61 races. In 2013, this very car with me driving won the last SCCA National (now known as the Majors) at Pocono in the Touring 4 class, which is were SCCA placed many of the small bore Showroom Stock cars when Showroom Stock morphed into Touring. Well, that is a lot of use (abuse?) for any car. So, I decided to show it some love & fix things right! It is now in my old barn, up on jack stands, being taken apart. See pictures. This is at least a winter project, may take longer. The end goal is to have it ready for some sort of vintage racing next year. Wish me luck.
