Medication ingredient names updated to reflect international names

Since April 2016, the Therapeutic Goods Administration has been updating some medicine ingredient names used in Australia to align with international names. There is a list of the 226 changing ingredient names. Click here to read more

 
 
 

Elder abuse

Shortly after Mary’s husband Norm died, her adult son Kevin moved in with her. Initially Mary enjoyed his company, and was pleased to help Kevin - he had recently lost his job. Soon after though, things changed. Kevin became increasingly angry, always asking Mary for money. Mary was frightened and worried. She was scared to say 'no' for fear of Kevin’s response and didn’t feel safe in her own home. Click here to read more

 

Redesigning the Practice incentive Program (PIP) - consultation paper

In the 2016-17 Federal Budget, the Australian Government announced it would work towards changing the PIP through the measure entitled “Quality Improvement in General Practice – Simplification of the PIP”. The redesign of the PIP will introduce a new Quality Improvement Incentive which will give general practices increased flexibility to improve their detection and management of a range of chronic conditions, and to focus on issues specific to their practice population. The Child Protection Helpline number is changing. From 30 October 2016, there will be one number for staff and the general public to contact the Child Protection Helpline (FaCS) to make a report about a child or young person at risk of significant harm. The new number is 132 111. The Helpline will continue to be open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Click here for more information

2016 - 2018 Strategic Plan out now!

We are pleased to release our updated Strategic Plan 2016 - 2018. The Plan outlines our local heath and health service priorities, and the steps we will take to address these. The Plan has been informed by our baselines needs assessment and reviewed by our Board, Clinical Council and Community Council. The Plan covers our initial funding period to June 2018 and will be reviewed in line with ongoing funding cycles. Click here to view the Strategic Plan
