There's no better way to appreciate nature's beauty than a drive to see the changing leaves. Here are some of the best drives to see the beautiful changing fall colors. 1. Alpine Loop: This drive is a favorite during autumn when the reds and golds of maple, oak and aspen contrast sharply with a backdrop of evergreens. Timpanogos Cave National Monument is a worthwhile stop along the route and Cascade Springs makes a great side trip. The Alpine Loop is 24 miles of paved highway and the road to Cascade Springs is 7.5 miles one-way, also paved. From Cascade Springs, a gravel road can return you over the hill to Heber City. For directions and more information, click here. 2. Ogden Canyon: Visitors journeying up this narrow canyon enjoy alpine beauty, excellent fishing and access to recreational opportunities at two major ski resorts (Snowbasin and Powder Mountain) and sparkling Pineview Reservoir as the byway climbs through the Wasatch-Cache National Forest.
