We are excited to continue the collaborative project work of the third trimester! State TestingNext month, UDA will begin administering California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) assessments. Students across California in grades 3–8 take these assessments each spring. The tests measure the skills called for by the academic standards, including the ability to write clearly, think critically, and solve problems. Because CAASPP tests are given statewide, they provide an opportunity to measure the skills of all students against the same academic standards. Given online, the tests are computer-adaptive, allowing more precise measurement of individual skills. Please keep in mind, these assessments are just one of the tools we use to gauge student progress and performance. Parents have the opportunity to experience the kinds of questions that students will encounter on the tests by reviewing the Practice and Training Tests. This May, your child will take the following tests:
If you plan to exempt your child from testing, UDA must receive a written request annually from the legal parent/guardian, specifying the tests to be exempted. A Message from Our Network ParentsIn lieu of an Earth Day event at our campus this year, the UDA Network is organizing a group of students, parents, and staff to participate in the March for Science. As parents of the next generation of great thinkers and future scientists, we think it is important to support our scientific community. We will be printing specially themed shirts for $15 each. YOU DO NOT NEED TO PURCHASE A SHIRT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE MARCH! Money raised from the shirt sales will be put towards supporting our STEAM and science programs at UDA. Click HERE to sign up to participate in the March. Please fill out the names of everyone in your family participating and how many and what size shirt(s) you need. Payment for shirts will be collected when they are distributed the week of April 17th. Stay tuned for more updates! It can be Father/Daughter, Mother/Son, Daughter/Mom, Father/Son, Uncle/Nephew, Grandma/Grandchild… any combination is awesome. The more the merrier! Tickets are $5 per person ($10 per couple), and can be purchased here. All students must be accompanied by a guardian, and the guardian can accompany multiple children if needed.
