Caledon Launches visitcaledon.ca to Promote Tourism

The Town of Caledon launched a new website, visitcaledon.ca, to promote tourism experiences in Caledon.

“Caledon has so much to offer,” said Mayor Allan Thompson, “we want to make it easier for visitors to discover the wonderful experiences available here.”

visitcaledon.ca offers a selection of THINGS TO DO, suggestions on WHERE TO EAT and WHERE TO STAY, as well as a calendar of EVENTS that users can contribute to.

Teknaform Celebrates its Expansion in Bolton

Teknaform began operations in an industrial strip mall in Brampton in 1999. In 2002, they relocated to Bolton into their own building. From the beginning Teknaform made a commitment to manufacturing quality products and delivering them with superior customer service. This commitment has moved them along the growth path to where they are today, moving into a brand new, 40,000 sq. ft., state of the art, manufacturing facility. 2015 Peel Halton Employer Survey

This is the fifth annual Peel Halton employer survey. Last year over 417 responses were collected from employers, representing over 50,000 jobs in Peel and Halton Regions. The survey helps employment services and training bodies to better match their activities to employer needs.

Caledon Economic Development is partnering with the Peel Halton Workforce Development Group to implement this survey.

This year, the survey focuses on:

  • Newcomers and the workforce
  • Hiring frustrations
  • Baby boom retirements
  • Succession planning
  • Difficult to fill occupations
  • Familiarity with supports for employers

Bolton Transportation Master Plan

The Town of Caledon and the Regional Municipality of Peel are in the process of preparing a Transportation Master Plan (TMP) for the community of Bolton. The purpose of the study is to address the transportation and road network concerns to support municipal planning goals for the short, medium and long-term.

You are invited to attend the second and final public information centre on Monday, June 22, 2015 between 6:30 and 9:00 PM at Albion-Bolton Community Centre (150 Queen Street South, Bolton) to review and provide input on the draft recommendations for your community.

Topics covered will include transit, active transportation, and roads, along with the transportation vision for the downtown core of Bolton. All consultation materials and other details regarding the project will be available at caledon.ca/btmp.

Six Villages Community Improvement Plan (CIP)

The second round of public consultation for the Six Villages CIP is taking place on June 24 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. (presentation starts at 7:15 pm) at the Victoria Park Community Centre, 35 Victoria Crescent, Mono Mills.

The purpose of this meeting is to present the draft CIP, including proposed financial incentive programs and other initiatives to promote the revitalization of the Six Villages. This meeting is specifically related to the villages of Mono Mills and Palgrave. Click here for more information.

Ontario Moving Forward with Accessibility Certification Program

Ontario is continuing its work towards an accessible province by 2025 by exploring options for a new accessibility certification program.

The province will consult with industry, disability advocates, certification experts, municipalities, and not-for-profits to develop a voluntary, third-party certification program - inspired by the success of the LEED designation promoting excellence in green building - to recognize businesses and organizations that have championed accessibility. "Vendors and customers were all smiles on the opening day of SouthFields Village Farmers' Market's third season, on Thursday, June 11. This year's vendors delivered an even bigger and more dynamic assortment of delicious goodies. Patrons can expect even more selection as the season unfolds."

The Bolton Farmers' Market had another fantastic opening day on Saturday, June 13.
