November 1, 2016 Atlanta Region's Remarkable Journey Celebrated at 2016 State of the Region BreakfastMore than 1,300 leaders came together at the Atlanta Regional Commission’s (ARC) State of the Region breakfast to celebrate metro Atlanta’s remarkable journey. Speakers included Ambassador Andrew Young, who reflected on some of the region's key milestones, and Doug Hooker, ARC executive director, who presented the State of the Region message. Metro Atlanta Speaks Survey Shows Transportation Still Region's Top ConcernFor the third year in a row, transportation topped the list of metro residents' chief concerns, according to ARC's 2016 Metro Atlanta Speaks Survey. One in three respondents said they frequently lacked the transportation to get where they need to go.
Developments of Excellence Awards Showcase Achievement and VisionThe 18th annual Developments of Excellence awards, presented at ARC's 2016 State of the Region breakfast, honored John C. Portman Jr. with the first Lifetime Achievement Award for his extraordinary vision and leadership. The Development of Excellence award went to Kronberg Wall for their restoration of a historic church in Atlanta’s Reynoldstown neighborhood.
Craig Lesser receives 2016 Harry West Visionary Leadership AwardThe 2016 recipient of the Harry West Visionary Leadership Award is Craig Lesser. Lesser, managing partner with the Pendleton Group, served as the inaugural chair of ARC’s Regional Economic Competitiveness Strategy bringing more than 500 volunteers into the ambitious regional economic effort. Atlanta Regional Workforce Development Board's Mobile Career LabThe ARWDB Mobile Career Resource Center is a 13-station, state-of-the-art, fully accessible computer lab.
