Register for the Mayor's Business Breakfast

Mayor Allan Thompson will host the next Mayor's Business Breakfast on May 4 from 7:00 - 9:00 a.m. The breakfast is an opportunity to network, share ideas and will feature a speech by Mike Moffatt, Chief Economist of the Mowat Centre, titled Globalization and Automation - Ontario's Economy at a Crossroads.

The breakfast is always a lively event attracting hundreds of business people from across Caledon and beyond. This is the place to be as the Mayor and members of Council interact with guests, and get the community excited about what’s coming for Caledon. Take back insight into the plans ahead and Council priorities.

This Mayor's Business Breakfast will take place at the Royal Ambassador Event Centre, located at 15430 Innis Lake Road in Caledon East (map).

Hot breakfast will be served.

New export program “CanExport” announced to support Canadian companies

Headwaters Region Tourism Symposium

Central Counties Tourism will be hosting their annual tourism symposium on Monday, March 21 at the Hockley Valley Resort. This year's symposium will feature keynote speaker Terry O'Reilly as well as provide opportunities for tourism stakeholders to network and learn about how Central Counties can support tourism growth and development and pose questions to Central Counties staff and Board members.

Headwaters Food Charter Consultation Sessions

Headwaters Food and Farming Alliance (HFFA) is developing a formal food charter and holding consultation sessions over March and April to gather valuable insight into what the food charter should include and what strategic actions need to take place for the Headwaters Food System to thrive.

The Caledon session was held on March 4, however there are still 2 sessions you may register for if you are an individual representative of the health and wellbeing, social services and food access, economic development, environmental responsibility, food production or food culture/culinary tourism. We need your input.

The next two sessions will be held in Orangeville and Shelburne in April.

Coop Program for Newcomer Professionals to Canada

The Peel Multicultural Council is offering a Coop program to support integration of new immigrant professionals to Canada. This is a program of Citizenship & Immigration Canada and is aimed at assisting newcomers under the Federal Skilled Immigrant Visa Program gain exposure to the Canadian workforce. The program seeks to work with local employers to provide coop placements for these newcomer professionals.

Protecting Employees' Tips Act (Bill 12) Becomes Law

The Employment Standards Act, 2000 with respect to tips and other gratuities has been amended and is now law. The Act provides information on automatic gratuity, tip sharing, including sharing with kitchen workers, and when managers and employers will be allowed to be part of the tip sharing.
