Where Kiwis Holiday - Summer Campaign

Destination Coromandel will be excited to deliver the first-ever summer campaign for The Coromandel, "Where Kiwis Holiday". While we are acutely aware that ongoing restrictions on movement as part of our COVID elimination response will affect marketing activities, we are going ahead with plans to be ready to launch the campaign early in September.

We aim to reignite past summer activity by stimulating the desire to visit and increasing the value visitors bring to The Coromandel over our peak season. 

We know that our region and our visitor industry, in particular, need the best possible summer to adapt to the changing travel environment and the absence of international visitors. The Coromandel must work hard to maintain visitor numbers - the lifeline for our industry - so there will be strong promotion prior to summer.

Where Kiwis Holiday will remind visitors what they love about summers in The Coromandel, why it is a no-brainer to make plans for this summer, and whet their appetite with activities they may not even know about. For those who don't know us so well, we aim to convert them with inspiring visuals and engaging stories that get them to book their holiday with us.  We know they will come back!

The campaign will run from early September to the end of February in several phases of activity. We will target our drive market with a range of promotions including billboards and bus backs in Auckland, key print media, our social channels, wider digital channels and collaborative projects with key partners such as Bachcare, AA Traveller, Mediaworks and Tourism New Zealand.  And we will be nimble to leverage other options as they come up.

Engage with us on social

Follow @thecoromandel on Facebook and Instagram and tag your posts @thecoromandel and #wherekiwisholiday so we can amplify the summer message. We always credit your content to you we share, that's the point.

Share visuals

We are building a new Virtual Reality platform so please send us any 360 or 180-degree images you may have.  And share other images that capture the experience you are offering guests so that we can add them to the mix.  Again we credit you so that consumers can discover more about your product/experience (and plan to visit you).

Share your packages and specials with us

We aim to drive as much conversion as possible and secure bookings for your business. To achieve this, the campaign call to action will be www.thecoromandel.com, so please list your special seasonal offers on our website.

How to list on thecoromandel.com:

Please upload your package, deal or event via our online events registration form which can be found here in the Members Portal. First-time users will need to register before submitting, but it will only take a minute or two.

When completing the form, please make sure the following fields are completed:

  1. Event Name - The name of your business or package name
  2. Category - Please choose: Specials - WKH Campaign
  3. Dates - When the deal is valid from/to.
  4. Summary - A short overview of the offer
  5. Description - The Deal, Special, or Package details. This doesn’t need to be a discounted or special price, it could include an add-on, a shoulder season/mid-week/ long-stay rate or a package with another operator for example.
  6. Contact -  This must be the page where the deal lives on your website so we can direct referrals and get them to book with you. This is likely to a standalone page.
  7. Media - Upload at least one image, 3 is preferable. Remember pictures tell a thousand words, but they need to be good!
  8. Additional - Booking and price information

Now is also a good time to check your listing on www.thecoromandel.com or if you’re not yet listed, make contact with us now.  There is no charge, it is free marketing for your business (another no-brainer!)

Partner with us in promotions

We are creating a social campaign with a treasure hunt theme to drive engagement, plus partnering with  Bachcare to bring the feel of summer to our Auckland audience at a popular family location like Mission Bay. Amongst other prizes, we will be giving away discount/special vouchers for Coromandel attractions. Let us know what you'd like to offer. The message will be "Here’s a taste of summer, experience the real thing in The Coromandel, where Kiwis holiday."
