Smashes just about any Bourgogne rouge I‘ve had as well as most new-world pinot. Buy now, drink now." The 2015 Underwood Oregon Pinot Noir has aromas of spice, smoke, ripe cherries, and raspberry. The palate is filled with sweet cherry, violets, raspberries, spice and plum notes. This accessible wine is delicious, with fine tannins that come together in a fruit laden finish. The 2015 vintage started off with a mild winter which caused bud break to occur very early. The early warm temperatures continued, with flowering occurring in late May to early June in most of the state. Similar to 2014, the summer was warm and dry. As we approached what looked to be like an exceptionally early harvest, the weather cooled off as we entered into September and allowed the flavors to catch up with the escalating sugars. The harvest was bountiful and extremely high quality, with the resulting wines showing generous fruit, intense concentration, and great energy reminiscent of the vintage. "This Oregon pinot is a blend of 60% Willamette Valley and 40% Umpqua fruit, in 10% new French oak. The generosity of the Oregon 2015 vintage has really smiled on this wine, with a fresh lifted raspberry and strawberry bouquet – enticing. The light to medium-weight colour belies the intensity of the palate, which is elegant, with a mélange of crushed chilled red berries with some darker cherry notes. The flavor is persistent and fragrant in the aftertaste, with lovely tannins to close. This might well be the quaffing pinot of the year. Smashes just about any Bourgogne rouge I've had as well as most new-world pinot. Buy now, drink now." – Frank Wilden, The Australian. Buy the 2015 Underwood Oregon Pinot Noir here.
