Update - December 2020

  1. Central and Eastern Sydney PHN: We are nearing the end of 2020 and what a year it has been. This edition, we are sharing some local service promotions and articles. We hope they are of interest to you. We thank you all for your partnership throughout the year and wish you all a safe and happy holiday season!
  2. Community Restorative Centre (CRC): Prison populations decreased significantly during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in NSW. 
  3. We Help Ourselves (WHOS): A recent evaluation sought to assess improvements in client outcomes and initial engagement resulting from the introduction of specialist withdrawal nurses at WHOS residential TCs in Sydney. 
  4. Uniting: Following successful campaigning by Fair Treatment with the local community, the NSW Treasurer, The Hon. Dominic Perrottet, announced funding for a much needed drug rehab facility in Dubbo in the NSW State Budget on 9th November 2020.

  5. Kirketon Road Centre (KRC): Responding to the needs of clients during COVID time.

  6. NSW Users and AIDS Association (NUAA): The launch of a confidential peer-run telephone service providing support to people who use drugs, who are on the opioid treatment program or who are seeking treatment across NSW.

  7. WEAVE Youth & Community Services: Led by two incredible young women, the 'What You Don't Hear' podcast (now streaming) explores different perspectives on issues facing young people such as mental health, drugs and alcohol, young people’s rights and the importance of connecting to culture.

  8. ACON: Australia’s largest national survey of its kind for LGBTIQ people over the age of 18 now available.

  9. Sydney Local Health District (SLHD): Important information for access to drug and alcohol services within Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) during the holiday season.
