Sandy Severson,Vice President of Care Improvement

The Hospital Engagement Network 2.0, a CMS-grant-funded program supporting the prevention of hospital acquired conditions, officially closed on September 23rd. Participating Arizona hospitals celebrated their work in preventing 1,039 “harms” for a cost savings to the healthcare delivery system of $11,525,391. At the national level, the AHA/HRET project has conservatively prevented more than 34,000 “harms” with an estimated cost savings of nearly $300 million. This one-year project has imparted a wealth of knowledge on the healthcare community though the sharing of evidence-based practices and practical implementation resources. A huge Thank You to the Arizona participating hospitals for stepping up to make their hospitals safer and for their commitment to making Arizona the healthiest state in the nation.
