While no one is immune from COVID-19 it is becoming clear that the virus is not impacting on humanity equally. Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities, older people, men and those from poorer socio-economic backgrounds are all at greater risk of worse outcomes. And it is a fact that those with underlying chronic health conditions are also at greater risk. While COVID-19 is not a lifestyle disease - lifestyle medicine is certainly part of the solution. In a timely blog, our chairman Dr Rob Lawson explores the role of lifestyle medicine in tackling the greatest public health crisis we have faced in a generation. Read Rob's blog on our website. In Conversation: interviews with Garry Egger and Rob ThomasIn the run up to our annual conference in September we are bringing you a series of interviews with key figures from the world of lifestyle medicine - including some of those speaking at BSLM2020. This month, Rob Lawson has interviewed one of the founders of lifestyle medicine Prof Garry Egger, as well as consultant oncologist Professor Rob Thomas. Rob Thomas talks tea, broccoli and cancer - as well as discussing his work in developing a lifestyle medicine-based nutrition plan, the benefits of group consultations and the ways he is adapting to telephone consulting. Rob's wide-ranging discussion with Garry Egger touches on everything from obesity and exercise, to politics, economics and climate change. If you thought lifestyle medicine was just about diet and exercise - think again! Watch Rob Lawson's interview with Garry Egger on youtube Watch Rob Lawson's interview with Rob Thomas on youtube
