INTRODUCING QUALITY STANDARDS TO ONTARIO
Our new quality standards program provides clear frameworks to improve care. This exciting initiative includes clinical and patient reference guides about each standard; information and data briefs demonstrating the need; implementation planning and quality improvement tools to support adoption; and indicators for clinicians and organizations to track their progress.

Quality Standard: Our draft quality standard for heavy menstrual bleeding is now available for comment. Read it and provide your input before it's finalized.
Health Technology Assessment: We reviewed hyperbaric oxygen therapy for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. Read the latest draft recommendation and share your feedback.

NEW REPORT: MEASURING UP 2016
Measuring Up 2016 marks the 10th yearly report on the performance of Ontario’s health system. It is our broadest portrayal of health care quality to date, demonstrating the progress being made and where the system could better focus its efforts.

A NEW PATIENT ENGAGEMENT FRAMEWORK
To guide you in planning for, implementing and evaluating patient engagement, Health Quality Ontario is introducing a Patient Engagement Framework for Ontario. Use it to better understand the key principles for engagement, and the practices you can use to do it.

NEW: HEALTH LINKS PRACTICES TO INFORM TRANSITIONS BETWEEN HOSPITAL AND HOME
New resources and a Community of Practice to support patients who may require care across different settings were unveiled at last month’s Health Links Leadership Summit.
Web materials outline both innovative practices and evidence-informed best practices designed to safely and effectively move patients from one care setting to another.
A webinar focusing on Innovative Practices, with guests speakers presenting their implementation experiences, will be held on November 16.

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT SPOTLIGHT: IDEAS Project Published
We’re delighted to share that a project facilitated by IDEAS was recently published in the BMJ Quality Improvement Report Journal.
“Improving Emergency Department flow through optimized bed utilization” was developed by Lucas Chartier, Licinia Simoes, Meredith Kuipers and Barb McGovern. Their study is an example of rigorous quality improvement that significantly reduced wait times between triage and bed assignment for high-acuity patients.

SOUTH EAST LHIN CLINICAL QUALITY LEAD ANNOUNCED
Congratulations Dr. Robert Webster! Dr. Webster is a family physician at Queen’s University Department of Family Medicine – Belleville-Quinte Site. He is a lecturer with the Department of Medicine at Queen’s, and a lecturer for the University of Ottawa’s Department of Family Medicine.
