"Winter our Way" seasonal marketing campaign

Building on the success of previous campaigns, last month we launched a winter campaign across multiple channels to encourage people to plan a visit during the school holidays and/or sometime over winter.

We've run successful winter campaigns over the past three years, not just to inspire travel but also to elevate consideration for Hauraki Coromandel as a winter holiday destination, not just for summer. We do this by:

  • Featuring deals and packages offered by our local businesses in paid activity
  • Presenting the benefits of slow travel around the Coromandel Loop and showcasing our way of life in winter to express how experiencing local food, art and culture adds to a sense of wellbeing.  Travel that is #goodforyoursoul.
  • Promoting the idea of reconnecting with the simple things in life - our nature via our walks and trails, and our people.
  • Speaking to any concerns around accessibility to and around Hauraki Coromandel with maps that clearly describe travel routes and times and promote the diverse range of winter activities to be enjoyed across the region, whatever your family makeup and interests.
  • Continuing to promote the Coromandel Loop as a way to uncover and experience more of what our region has to offer, any time of year.

In addition to our own channels (www.thecoromandel.com, Facebook and Instagram) we have paid activity across the following platforms and placements:

Print:
Sunday Star Times (09 July 2023 - wrap cover)

Digital:
Ads with Stuff and NZME
Neighbourly Waikato Feature Post
Facebook
Google
Native Advertising Platforms

Out of Home:
Digital Billboards in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown

Broadcast
More FM radio ads (out of region)

(You do need a subscription to Stuff to log in and see these pages)

Partnerships to expand campaign

We have reached out to Tourism New Zealand for their support in amplifying our campaign, and we've also pitched for international media to visit Hauraki Coromandel during the FIFA World Cup. They won't have much time, (and the competition is fierce) but we will show them a very warm welcome between games and other obligations, if we get the chance.

So please do keep us in the loop so that we can double down on your marketing efforts and together boost our messages and budgets.  You can do this by listing a deal or event, tagging us @thecoromandel, or by simply sending us an email.
