The Minister of Health and Community Services, the AIDS Committee of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Safe Works Access Program (SWAP) launched the initiative Wednesday in St. John’s. A total of 1,200 naloxone kits will be distributed through 52 sites across the province, where staff will also provide training to anyone who may need them, or to family members, friends and caregivers of people potentially at risk. Addressing Mental Health Issues Related to HANDREACH 2.0 is pleased to announce the successful funding of a research project that seeks to explore the perspectives of community-based service providers who deliver support and mental health services to people living with HIV on the needed knowledge and preparedness to address mental health issues related to HIV-Associated Neurocognitive Disorders (HAND). BC Stigma Index has Started Recruiting Participants!The BC People Living with HIV Stigma Index, community-based research team at the Pacific AIDS Network, has started recruiting people living with HIV/AIDS from across the province to participate in interviews for this study. The interview involves a range of questions regarding experiences of stigma and discrimination in relation to HIV status. News from Saskatchewan!Work continues on data collection and analysis in the second phase of the Saskatoon Needs Assessment study. This study is looking at the experiences of people living with HIV in accessing health care. The second phase of the study examines this from the perspective of health care providers, and what they identify as barriers, gaps and facilitators for patients. Think Tank: Closing the Gap on HIV Testing in ManitobaThe Manitoba HIV Collective Impact Research-Evaluation-Action Network hosted a Think Tank on Closing the Gap on HIV Testing in Manitoba on November 24, 2016. Over 40 people representing policy makers, practitioners, researchers, peers, community-based organizations, indigenous organizations and others from across Manitoba attended. PHAC's Evaluation Report Guide and Compendium OnlineWe have worked with the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) to post all of their evaluation tools up on the REACH Website. These tools are meant to be used as a resource to community-based organizations submitting proposals for the HIV and Hepatitis C Community Action Fund. However, they are also a helpful resource for any community-based HIV or HCV organization who is developing an evaluation plan as it collates a great number of tools that you can use to measure the achievement of project outcomes. |
