Just head to TrainME and search the course catalogue for Records Managed SharePoint.

Select Enrol, go to the My Learning tab, and select a session

2. Training update: Content Manager

From 13 June 2019 Content Manager training will be moved from classroom sessions to the University of Melbourne TrainME platform. A suite of accessible resources on TrainME will ensure new University staff can easily get started with Content Manager.

Face-to-face training for teams can be provided on request. For any questions or enquiries, please contact Records Services at records-services@unimelb.edu.au

3. Privacy Awareness Week wrap up

Privacy Awareness Month saw a number of events run at the University, supported by the Information Governance & Engagement team (Legal & Risk).

For those who missed the event on Ethics, AI and Unintended Consequences, the recording was recently broadcast on the ABC RN Big Ideas program and it is now available for streaming and download.

A session was also run for University staff on Privacy by Design, which seeks to ensure that privacy is embedded into the design and architecture of information systems, business practices or processes or other initiatives involving the collection and handling of personal information.

A key tool for applying Privacy by Design is by completing a Privacy Impact Assessment, which reviews the privacy, IT security and data retention implications of new and changing projects, processes and systems.

4. Meet your Records team! Introducing: Carmela Gallo

Carmela is one of our Records Analysts, and has worked in records management at the university for the last 10 years.

Previously the Archivist for the City of Yarra, Carmela's interest in records was first sparked when she was involved in marking the 75th anniversary of the high school where she was teaching history and social studies.

Today, she primarily works to support business areas around the University with their hard copy records, managing transfers of records into Records Services' custody and advising on disposal.

She likes that her role means that she regularly interacts with university staff members, and firmly believes that to work in archives and records management requires a healthy sense of curiosity.

Ask her about: appraising records, interpreting records retention, and her recipe for tiramisu!

5. Records Managed SharePoint tip: Saving PDFs directly to your site

Did you know you can save PDF documents directly to SharePoint? In Adobe Acrobat you can set up your favourite places to save in SharePoint, making the process quicker and easier.
