Hi ,

A Long Lunch

Our third BBC Long Lunch was a full house, with 208
guests in attendance on both levels of The Triffid. The event hosted Old Boys, current and past parents and friends of the College. It was fantastic to see
alumni years spanning from 1962 to 2016 in the room.

Our sincerest thanks to our major partner and past parent, Vaughan Henry, from Blue Sky Funds as well as the BBC Pipe Band who did a surprise performance and our auction and raffle suppliers.

Special mention to Lucas Hewlett (1995) who kindly donated his winning raffle prize of a $1,500 Triffid voucher to the bar after the function for everyone to enjoy.

LUNCH IN THE CLOUDS

On Wednesday 26 July, 60 members of our Vintage Collegians' group, who are over the age of 60 years, came together for a chapel service and Christmas luncheon at Mount Mee. Special thanks to Rev. Graham Cole, BBC's Chaplain, who conducted a moving service.

We would be hard pressed to find a group of BBC Old Boys who are able to sing the College Hymn with more gusto and enthusiasm!

FROM THE FOUNDATION

OUR BBC COMMUNITY SHARED IN OUR VISION

This year for the BBC Foundation Annual Appeal, we asked our community to share in our vision of ensuring each and every boy who walks through our gates is prepared for the world in which he’ll live. We asked our community to get to know Edward, one of our rural boys supported by a BBC Bush Kids Bursary....and they did.

This remarkable BBC community effort from Old Boys, current and past parents, staff and friends of the College raised $51,090 for the Bush Kids Bursary.

ROBOTICS SUPERTEAM

A team of BBC students were crowned World Champions over the weekend in the Robocup Junior Lightweight Soccer Superteam Challenge. The team - named LJ STAND - travelled to Nagoya, Japan with Mr Colin Noy to compete against the best robotics teams from around the world.

Their robot scored 80% of the goals for their Superteam, including all seven goals in the final round of competition. Our boys also placed third in the Individual Robocup World Championship Challenge.

This is the second time a BBC team has been crowned World Champions in the Superteam Challenge. Well done to all involved in the BBC Robotics program!
