Once again a week where news about submarines has dominated the airwaves. Sea 1000 Future Submarine bidders had their last opportunity to impress at the Submarine Institute of Australia's conference in Adelaide and the Defence Minister had a lot to say also, including a confirmation that the White Paper release will now be pushed back to early 2016.

The next phase of the Army's Land 400 program has also kicked off with the RFI for Mounted Close Combat Capability released during the week.

ADM Editor Katherine Ziesing lays down some facts about the Port of Darwin affair and South Australian defence industry has seized the opportunity to collaborate with an Indonesian specialist vehicle manufacturer with an impressive record.

It's not all about future submarines either, with our Adelaide correspondent Philip Smart providing some fascinating updates on the AE2 wreck preservation and a recent search for the missing AE1.

In other news Aerosonde picks up a contract to provide a small UAS system to Taiwan for hurricane observation and Defence has awarded another to Northrop Grumman subsidiary M5 for Computer Network Defence.

We are still taking submissions for our annual Top 40 Defence Contractors or Top 20 Defence SMEs for 2015 – we hope to hear from you! In the meantime follow our news on Twitter, facebook and LinkedIn,
