The Office for Institutional Equity has parterned with several different UofM departments, student organizations, as well as community parterners to provide programming for the month of April. Protest Poster Creation Station

Come make a protest sign at McWherter Library. You can create it for a real protest situation or simply as an exercise to exercise your voice through visual representation. Signs can be left to be hung in McWherter Library or you can take your sign with you to use.  All supplies provided, even some inspiration if you need it!

Student Essay Contest Reception & Reading

Lots of of you wrote essays in response to historical photographs for MLK50. Now, we have selected the finalists and it is time to pick a winner! Join us for the reading of winning essays by your peers and a reception to follow.

Rise Against Hunger

On April 4th, 2018, the School of Health Studies will be hosting a Rise Against Hunger (formerly known as Stop Hunger Now) event to help combat the worldwide problem of hunger and malnutrition. This non-profit organization aims to end world hunger by providing nutritious, low-cost meals to children living in poverty-stricken nations all across the globe. Specially, Rise Against Hunger organizes events in which volunteers prepare and package meals to be shipped, while donors financially support the cause by providing the funds necessary to pay for the foods to be packaged. To register as a volunteer or to donate, please complete the application.

This workshop with the Experiential Learning Credit program will inform students about how ELC offers adult & non-traditional students an opportunity to petition for college credit for the knowledge, training, & skills they previously learned outside of traditional academic settings. The event is an informational event helping students prepare for the LSAT and informing students about paralegal certification.

East Buntyn ArtWalk

East Buntyn ArtWalk is an open air arts festival. Artists set up in booths in the front yards and porches all throughout the neighborhood to display and sell their creations. Admission is free, and we are kid-friendly and pet-friendly. The headquarters is at St. James Anglican Church. We will have food trucks, live music, and a silent auction. The Office of Student Success Programs (SSP) will offer assistance to students who are preparing to take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). This intensive, small-group seminar is designed to help test-takers brush up on their test taking skills, review materials for the verbal and quantitative sections of the exam, and practice by taking full length practice tests. MARS Program

The Memphis Advocacy, Resources and Support (MARS) program which will provide advocacy, resources and support to students dealing with domestic and sexual violence is now available to all students.
MARS Advocates are trained student volunteers who provide free and confidential crisis intervention to survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and stalking. Advocates assist students by providing information, support, referrals, and education. MARS also serves a central resource for those navigating University resources and processes as well as external agency resources.

The Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Coalition (SAPAC

The Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Coalition (SAPAC) is currently seeking Peer Educators for the upcoming school year. Peer Educators will receive training so that they can deliver educational programming on consent, healthy relationships, and bystander intervention to student groups that request a session. Applications are open until April 4th. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Alison Brown.

Student Trustee Application

Do you want to make a difference on campus? The Student Government Association is now accepting applications for the Student Trustee position on behalf of the University of Memphis Board of Trustees. Fast Pitch Competition

The Crews Center is hosting a Fast Pitch Competition where students can present their business ideas, showcase their talent and passion for entrepreneurship, and compete for $5,000 in cash prizes. Information sessions about the competition will be held at the Crews Center. Competition details, awards, eligibility, judging and presentation tips will be reviewed. Submit your Video Pitch by April 13th.
