There were stalls of all kinds with Christmas music and decorations everywhere. All the pupils and teachers had a chance to peruse the various stalls over the course of the morning. There were different sorts of food from France, Spain, and Germany and everyone could sample a taste of the different cultures. It was a great success and truly put us all the Christmas spirit. We raised €509 on the day and the money will be donated to Focus Ireland. Thank you to everyone who contributed and helped to make the market such an enjoyable event - Joyeux Noël, Fröhliche Weihnachten, and Feliz Navidad! Form 6 Christmas DinnerPupils from Form 6 enjoyed a festive feast on Wednesday at this year's Christmas lunch. They embraced the holiday spirit, with seasonal hats and Christmas jumpers, listening to atmospheric Christmas music. It was a wonderful way for friends to spend time together and mark their last Christmas at The High School. Senior PlayAll Form 5 pupils have been working hard on the musical “West Side Story” since the start of the year and the performances are fast approaching! It is a modernized retelling of Romeo and Juliet: Tony and Maria find themselves falling in love amidst the bitter tensions and harsh conflicts of New York gangs. The shows will be on Tuesday 17, Wednesday 18, and Thursday 19 December; doors will open at 7.15 pm and the performance starts at 8.00 pm. Tickets are on sale at break and lunch time, as well as at the door on the night: adult tickets are €10 and tickets for children are €7. We hope you can join us for an unforgettable night full of brilliant acting, dancing, and singing. Leinster Tag Rugby BlitzLast week pupils from The High School enjoyed a Leinster Girls tag rugby blitz at Clontarf Rugby Club. We left the school in high spirits battling our nerves by singing Christmas songs on the bus along the way. The sunny December day was perfect weather for playing and everywhere we looked there were girls from many schools enjoying tag rugby. We were no different. Three teams from The High School played five matches each. We spent the day using all the skills that we had learned at our weekly early-morning training sessions. They certainly paid off with our teams winning numerous matches. It was great fun. Home EconomicsPupils who study Home Economics have a wonderful time every Christmas Library FunThe High School Library is a popular place to go every day but especially on Board Game Thursday when the Library has become the place to be for those in the know. Our new board games are proving to be very popular while the classics never really get old. Every pupil is welcome to come along and try their hand at Battleships, Monopoly, and other favourites. SCT League Semi-FinalCongratulations to our Senior Cup Team who reached the semi-final of the League only to lose the match in the final minute of the game. It was school rugby at its most gripping. The boys played brilliantly and can hold their heads high as they look forward to playing at Donnybrook Stadium next term in the Vinnie Murray Cup competition. Locker ReminderA reminder that all pupils must empty their lockers and bring all belongings home by Thursday 19 December. All lockers must be locked with their combination locks. Loss of a lock will result in a €25 replacement fee. Advent AppealWe are calling on members of The High School community to donate to our Help the Homeless Appeal. We are collecting warm clothing, necessities, and toys for those in most need. Form 4 pupils are coordinating the collection which we hope will make a difference to those in need this Christmas. If you have any items that you think might be of benefit to the homeless please leave them in the collection boxes at Reception. Dates for your Diary
