No Images? Click here With only 2 weeks until you arrive in college, we want to chat about wellbeing. While your academic department will help develop your critical thinking skills, in colleges we help you develop the skills to manage your wellbeing. If you need further support we can offer coaching sessions and signpost you to other services that might be beneficial such as Open Door (the University's counselling service). We have included some top tips from our current college tutors below. College Tutors work alongside student leaders and college staff to promote student wellbeing. They provide a friendly listening ear if you need someone to talk to. 888"As someone who finds time management difficult, 888 has been really helpful. By aiming to get at least 8 hours sleep a night; do at least 8 hours of work; and 8 hours of chilling and having fun, you can get a pretty good balance." Laura (Derwent College Tutor) Be your own best friend"When you feel a bit rubbish, mates can provide a bit of perspective and usually tell you to stop being so hard on yourself. I tell students to ‘Be Your Own Best Friend’ because it makes so much sense. If your friend was finding things difficult you wouldn’t make things worse by telling them negative things - so why do it to yourself?" Obinna (Halifax College Tutor) Just because you are moving to uni does not mean you should give up the stuff you enjoy and that gives your life meaning. Maintaining your wellbeing is something we can all do on a day-to-day basis. Take a look at our tips.
