From 1 January 2018: - children who are unvaccinated due to their parent’s conscientious objection will no longer be able to be enrolled in child care
- it will be an offence (with a penalty of 50 penalty units) for a principal to fail to comply with the child care vaccination enrolment requirements
- it will be an offence (with a penalty of 50 penalty units) for a person to forge or falsify a vaccination certificate.
Currently, unvaccinated children can still attend childcare but don’t receive any benefits.

Cancer Shared eCare Plan
Are you a GP who is interested in cancer shared care? Cancer Services at PoW Hospital has been funded to develop a web-based Cancer Shared eCare Plan to support the follow-up of patients who have completed treatment. The Shared eCare Plan aims to support the engagement of GPs and other primary health care providers in cancer shared care. GPs would be considered members of the Cancer Care team. The cancer specialist would initiate the care plan and provide recommendations for follow-up. GPs follow-up these recommendations and provide feedback. The first step we are undertaking is to identify the information needs of GPs and Cancer Service specialists for patients who have colorectal cancer. This will involve a 15 minute meeting with the project manager at your practice. We are also looking for GPs who are interested in providing input at various stages of the project or participating in a pilot. If you are interested in this please contact Alex Dolezal. For further information you can contact Project Manager, Jane Taggart at j.taggart@unsw.edu.au or 0425 258 949

NSW Ambulance booking changes for general practice
From Wednesday 6 September 2017, NSW Ambulance has changed the way patient information is gathered when receiving requests from doctors and nurses booking an Ambulance via
131 233 for patients requiring ongoing care in an emergency department. The information gathered for patients being booked from community based settings such as a surgery, residential aged care facility or private addresses that have been evaluated by a doctor or nurse will now be obtained utilising the Medical Priority Dispatch System. Obtaining this set of information will ensure patients with the presence of priority symptoms, or who have experienced a sudden or unexpected change in their condition, are allocated an appropriate response priority. Click here to view the NSW Ambulance factsheet outlining the changes.
