Cornerstone’s park home insulation project at Shepherds Grove Park in Stanton, Suffolk, has been selected by the Association of Local Energy Officers (ALEO) for their annual award for the East of England region.

In partnership with the councils of West Suffolk, Cornerstone installed external wall insulation on 24 park homes at Shepherds Grove Park between December 2015 and February 2016. The park home owners are now benefitting from warmer and more thermally efficient properties, which has in turn reduced their energy bills by up to £400 per year.

The ALEO is a not-for-profit organisation supporting local government officers and housing professionals with a remit for reducing all aspects of the UK’s domestic-sector carbon footprint and tackling fuel poverty. The ALEO awards recognise best practice in domestic retrofit; this project triumphed because it successfully tackled fuel poverty in a traditionally neglected section of the community, leveraging a range of funding to achieve outstanding results in terms of both thermal efficiency and aesthetics.

The award was presented to Andrew Oswald, Environment & Energy Team Leader for the West Suffolk councils, at the ALEO Conference in Bournemouth on Friday 13th October 2016.

Of Cornerstone’s role as insulation installer, Andrew commented:
“West Suffolk has been impressed by the professionalism and attention to detail provided by Cornerstone on the park home EWI project. All the residents have spoken very highly of the politeness and hardworking attitude of Cornerstone staff.”

A Word From a Happy Customer
Loft Insulation in process “I had arranged for Cornerstone to come out and do some Loft Insulation work on my house and I was extremely delighted not only with the job that the installer Simon had carried out but also how professional he and Cornerstone were throughout the whole process, from the initial booking in of the survey with a helpful young lady on the telephone, all the way through to the signing off of the job.”
– Mrs Johnson, King’s Lynn

Cornerstone was engaged by main contractor C J Murfitt to install insulated render on the John Huntingdon Centre in Sawston, Cambridgeshire.
The centre is a vital community hub run by the John Huntingdon’s Charity, which provides practical support to disadvantaged and vulnerable persons within Sawston.

The project was worth approximately £25,000 and was completed to an exceptional standard over a period of two weeks in July 2016.

The building was largely of solid wall construction, with some areas of cavity wall. Cornerstone installed a PermaRock phenolic external wall insulation system incorporating 60mm phenolic boards with a reinforced mesh clothe render base coat and a 1.5mm ThermoSan-Fassadenputze NQG K finish.

External wall insulation was one of a number of elements of a full renovation project taking place at the centre, which was closed for the duration. Cornerstone worked closely with a variety of other contractors and tradespeople, ensuring our schedules and works integrated intelligently.
“I am very pleased with the standard of work delivered by Cornerstone, which has transformed the centre. I found Cornerstone to be a very knowledgeable, professional and responsive company that I would certainly use again for similar projects.” – Colin Sheldrick, Site Manager at C J Murfitt

Harleston Town FC Sponsorship
Cornerstone is proud to announce that for the 8th consecutive season we will be sponsoring Anglian Combination Premier Division side Harleston Town Football Club.
Harleston Town FC was formed in 1885 and, at their peak, had 3 teams. However, in the early 2000s the club entered a period of decline and at the end of the 2006/2007 season had only one remaining. After narrowly avoiding relegation to Division 5, suffering near financial ruin and with hardly any facilities or equipment, it looked like the team would fold. However, Cornerstone’s sponsorship and donation of labour and materials has seen Harleston Town FC restored to their former glory. Harleston General Manager Craig Trudgill commented:
“I am absolutely delighted that Cornerstone will be sponsoring us for a 8th consecutive season. Having known both Adam and Tom for a number of years (outside of both football and in a working capacity) I know that their commitment to the football club is second to none. I like the football club, Cornerstone is a major part of the local community and for us to come together once again is fantastic news for all involved”

ECO Funding: Deemed Score Consultation

The government’s proposed move to deemed scores, as set out in the recent consultation documents, will remove the complication of property specific RdSAP scores and the requirement for pre-installation energy assessments, speeding up delivery and making it easier to forecast funding level for planned schemes. Cornerstone continues to maintain relationships with major funders and monitors the market closely. For more detail and updates on funding availability for energy efficiency measures, please contact us on the details below.
