Form 2 Rugby TourOn a fine Friday morning Form 2 rugby players travelled to Rosslare at 6.30 am and took the morning ferry to the south of Wales. We then drove to St David’s where we played a match against St David’s School. The High School won the game comfortably 38-22. We then travelled to Celtic Camping where about an hour later, we participated in a fun mud-run. We finished the evening with a movie, The Blindside. The next morning we woke up, had breakfast and left to play Carmarthen Quins RFC. At half time the game was very close but in the end The High School was victorious winning 31-14. After the game we got taxis into Carmarthen and walked around the town for about an hour and a half. We then went to Frankie and Benny’s
for pizza followed by a visit to the cinema where we watched Captain Marvel. At 11.00 pm we left Carmarthen to go to Pembroke port to get the 2.00 am ferry to Rosslare. We arrived at Rosslare at 6.30 am and Model United NationsRecently, The High School’s Model United Nations pupils received the wonderful opportunity to attend WCDMUN representing Indonesia and Azerbaijan. The conference was a wonderful experience for all participants, full of fierce debate and plentiful laughter. We debated a range of current global problems such as the question of the privatisation of war, climate refugees, the rights of people with a disability, marine pollution, and the situation in Sudan. The conference gave us the opportunity to socialise with young people from schools across Dublin as well as France, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. The High School won three awards: Distinguished Delegate – Daniel Fiala Li (Azerbaijan),
Distinguished Delegate – Eve Shannon (Azerbaijan), and Best Junior Delegate - Jake O’Loughlin (Indonesia). The conference finished with a disco which marked the end of the event. I can assure every pupil that Model United Nations is one of the most enjoyable activities that The High School has to offer and I encourage everyone to sign up.
