From January 2018, the 9-valent HPV vaccine Gardasil®9 (in an age dependent two dose schedule) replaces the 4-valent HPV vaccine (Gardasil®), on the National Immunisation Program (NIP). The role of the health provider is important in helping ensure good vaccine coverage across Australia, including administering doses missed at school and educating parents about the benefits of the HPV vaccine.

'Enhanced' flu vaccines for Australians aged 65 years and over
The Australian Government has announced it will be providing two new ground-breaking flu vaccines to all Australians aged 65 years and over, under the National Immunisation Program from April 2018. These new vaccines – Fluad® and Fluzone High Dose® – were registered in Australia to specifically provide increased protection for people aged 65 years and older. These new trivalent (three strain) vaccines work in over 65s by generating a strong immune response and are more effective for this age group in protecting against influenza. These vaccines have been specifically made for the elderly, as their immune systems respond less effectively to vaccines.
