This is a significant step towards achieving the vision of consistently measuring social and human capital, and encouraging social and human capital to be valued in corporate, investor, government and organisational decision-making. The coalition was launched to help companies recognise the value of people and communities living well. Ben says, “I am delighted and honoured to lead SVUK at such a critical point. We have a fantastic opportunity to continue shaping the way social value is understood and embedded into the culture and decision making of all organisations. As a membership body we will work together to develop good practice and industry standards. The Gender, Inclusion and Social Value groupThis group has now been established with the first official meeting happening week. This group recognises that gender matters, aims to work towards a greater understanding across sectors and publicly that gender matters and plays a role in our every day life experiences. It is only through measuring and understanding that we can begin to manage this impact. Read more and get involved. The meeting of the SVUK UK CouncilThe most recent SVUK UK Council meeting took place on Wednesday 18 April in London. The UK Council is staffed by SVUK regionally and technically representative members who guide and advice the SVUK Executive on quality, capacity and accountability particularly focusing on membership activities as well as communications, marketing and KPIs as set by the board. The meeting was well attended with a lively discussion on how to better engage with our members and our wider network. The 2030hub is the world's first UN recognised entrepreneurial Local2030 Hub and co-working space promoting and supporting the UN Global Goals in cities. It is also a soon to be B Corp itself, a vociferous regional champion for our movement including an in-house B Leader supporting potential north-west based B Corps and the focal point for many of our rapidly emerging Liverpool community. It is a long established practice that organisations think only in terms of the financial value they create. We want to introduce the inclusion of the 'social' value organisations and individuals create. An obvious next step is to have your social impact report assuredOur Social Value Report Assurance service is open for business until Friday 4 May. Having your report assured by our experts will give your work the official recognition of quality and credibility if it meets the SVI report assurance standard. We are reading...UKGBC have published a report called 'Social Value in New Development: An introductory guide for Local Authorities and their development teams.' It says, "Cities are where health, wealth and quality of life inequalities are most keenly felt. They are on the front line of climate impacts; they are where we generate most waste and consume most resources.
