Industry representatives will hear from the Department’s leaders, including the Secretary of the Department and Commissioner of the Australian Border Force, about our strategic direction and priorities for the future. By participating in the Industry Summit workshops, industry representatives can influence the Department’s plans to continue improving our processes, policies and programmes. AACB consults with Austrade on IVS and NVS data gapsAustrade has sought input from key organisations across the tourism industry to better understand data gaps for industry and how alternative data sources may augment the International Visitor Survey and National Visitor Survey. Additional data sources include administrative and digital data. Through this process, the AACB is actively engaged in consultation with Tourism Research Australia through CSIRO Data61 (Australia's leading data innovation group) to add strategic insight on the data needs of the business events industry. Her highlights? The countless connections she made through networking opportunities, especially by being part of the 30 under 30 program, allowing her to learn from other young industry professionals. She also got to meet Chris Gardner, author of the Pursuit of Happyness who challenged everyone to meet their full potential. Adriana will be presenting on her experience at the AACB Annual Conference. Adriana won Destinations International Prize sponsored by DI and Qantas. There were a total of 16,700 arrivals in May 2017 whose main purpose of coming to Australia was a convention/conference. This translates to a 19.4% increase from the May 2016 (19,100).
