Introducing SCWLA's first monthly email update! This email is part of our effort to minimize the number of emails you receive from SCWLA by briefly summarizing key items in one message each month, with links to more detailed information within the email. While there will certainly be times that a separate, stand-alone email or message is necessary, we are endeavoring to minimize email fatigue! Happy Reading!
President's Letter Last month marked the thirtieth anniversary of Women’s History Month. In 1987, after being petitioned by the National Women's History Project, the U.S. Congress passed a law designating the month of March as “Women's History Month.”

Professional Development Tip: "I am a big fan of podcasts, and one that I am enjoying right now is
The Art of Charm. The podcast claims it will make you a “better networker, better connector, and—most important—a better thinker.” Personally, it reminds me of a new-school version of Dale Carnegie’s legendary book, How to Win Friends & Influence People. Our interactions with others—whether it is a brief, a hearing, a deposition, or meeting with a client—is really at the heart of what we do as attorneys. I recommend The Art of Charm’s
“Minisode Monday,” which provides a short lesson on making you more effective. For example, minisodes discuss how to fix filler words, how to show gratitude for others, or how to find mentors. I also enjoy the full-length episodes. One of my recent favorite full-length episodes is “How to Fascinate,” which explains why different is better than better and how standing out is our greatest advantage." -Kerri Brown
