5 Ways You're Failing With Your Online Professional Profile

In modern day real estate, your online professional profile can be just as critical as great connections and business experience. Many realtors, however, are not as diligent with their preparation and organization of their online professional profiles as they are of their other materials. Uncover five ways your online professional profile- particularly on LinkedIn- may be lacking, and how to easily remedy these to gain greater real estate success.

Having an inferior profile picture. Or worse, not having one at all.

If your online professional profile picture is a selfie of you and your dog, you're not doing your professional brand any favors. That is unless you're a dog walker or a veterinarian. Other not quite professional images include photographs of your kids, gaming avatars, or you in your swimsuit. Your online professional profile, as the name implies, is for professionals. Save those other image types for your personal social networking profiles.

Perhaps the worst professional profile pic faux pas is failing to post a picture altogether. Putting a face to a name helps to establish a level of trust and familiarity. Not showing your face may even make you appear illegitimate in your expertise. Put your best face forward with a crisp, high-resolution headshot that looks close to how you look right now.

How often should you post on Pinterest?

Pinterest is a high volume/high value social network. If you want your pins to get found and shared, you need to be posting more frequently.

Be sure to use interesting, attractive images, the right keywords, and links back to your website. Large images with great clarity are important to getting noticed in the Pinterest feed.

  • Post a minimum of 5 times per day
  • According to Constant Contact, the maximum number of post per day is 10 times.

Real-time tracking with YouTube Analytics

YouTube has added new real-time reporting to its analytics dashboard. It provides view counts down to the minute for your uploaded videos. The new dashboard looks at your last 5 published videos, how many users have accessed them, and how the user figures have developed in the past 48 hours.

This reporting is great for savvy agents, as it  provides a new way to look at content and keep track of what time is preferable to publish your latest videos.

Social media spending trumps print advertising

During the 3rd quarter of the fiscal year (April 1- June 30, 2014), small and medium businesses (SMB), including those in real estate, spent more on social media than on any other outlet.

Reports indicate that 21.4% of SMB spending went towards social media spending. Print and outdoor spending, in comparison, accounted for only 18.5% of overall spending.
