Inner West GPs – Invitation to participate in a brief interview about HealthPathways Sydney
The HealthPathways Sydney program is currently undergoing a series of evaluation studies coordinated by Sydney Local Health District and the Menzies Centre for Health Policy. CESPHN is assisting the Menzies Centre in recruiting GPs for “The HealthPathways Sydney GP Perspective Study” which aims to explore when, how, and why or why not GPs use HealthPathways Sydney. GP participants will be interviewed about their experience and opinions of HealthPathways Sydney. This is open to any GP working in the SLHD catchment - even if you don’t use HealthPathways Sydney! It’s just a single, brief interview (in your practice setting at a convenient time to you), and you will be remunerated $120. To sign up or if you would like further information, please contact the HealthPathways Sydney team at
Health.Pathways@sswahs.nsw.gov.au or on 8752 4941.

Dealing with requests for vaccination exemption
A new AIR Immunisation Medical Exemption form (which currently only GPs are able to complete) was introduced on 1 January 2016 and is
available online. There are few valid reasons to sign an Immunisation Medical Exemption form, and it is important that GPs understand what these are. "To sign or not to sign" by Dr Frank Beard and Dr Nicholas Wood is a useful article that explores what the true medical contraindications are and what constitutes adequate evidence of natural immunity. It also discusses how to recognise and manage common concerns, including those about adverse
events after vaccination, that may contribute to parents’ requests for completion of medical exemption forms.
