Will you help GUY feed hungry families in Oklahoma?
Did you know that nearly 20% of Oklahomans struggle to afford enough food to feed their families? (Food Research and Action Center 2016 report). Will you help us raise $2,500 to purchase food supplies for 10,000 meals?

Training Continues for Environmental Team
This month, GUY's Natural Resource Specialists Pam Nelson and Skyler Robson completed Army Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation, Regional Supplement, and Waters of the United States training. This training covered the protocol of the Regional Supplements and the mandated 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual to identify the presence and boundaries of waters of the United States, among other things. We are proud to have more staff trained to complete wetland delineations! Pam has also been working in eastern Oklahoma with Environmental Solutions & Innovations, Inc. (ESI). She needed to complete experience required for applying for her own Endangered Species Act Section 10(a)(1)(A) recovery permit for various
bat species, and we appreciate ESI’s mentorship and guidance, with special thanks to Dr. Lynn Robbins, ESI lead scientist. During the survey event, the team tagged and released federally endangered gray bats, placed radio telemetry on tricolored and northern long-eared bats, and captured and documented federally endangered Ozark big-eared bats.
Have you ever wanted to participate in an American burying beetle survey? Now is your chance! The 2018 Oklahoma Bioblitz will be held October 5-7 at Greenleaf State Park right in the heart of the ABB Conservation Priority Area. GUY's own Stephanie Rainwater, a federally permitted ABB specialist, will be at the event leading a survey effort.
If bugs aren't your thing, there are a lot of other family-friendly activities planned, including hiking, birding, drone demos, and more.
Everyone guessed correctly that last month's bridge was in New Orleans! Do you recognize this month's bridge too, in another southern US city? Double points if you can name the bridge and the park it is located in. Hint: this bridge was built in 1915 and was the first cantilevered, multiple-arched bridge to be built in its state.
