BUDGET ADOPTED
Council adopted a $162 million budget for 2022/23 at Monday night’s Council meeting.
The budget will help to deliver more than 100 services to our community as well as more than $75 million for capital works projects including roads, footpaths, bridges, sport and recreation facilities, playgrounds, open space and buildings.
We will do this within the 1.75 per cent rate cap set by the State Government.
We’ll be providing more information about the budget projects and highlights over the next few weeks including the full budget document and 10 year financial plan as well as a budget summary

MORE FUNDING
Another big week of announcements
Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Catherine King and Member for McEwen Rob Mitchell announced on Monday that an Albanese Government will deliver $11 million to improve roads across Mitchell and Macedon Ranges.
Mr Mitchell also visited Wallan with State Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence to announce funding for four important projects as part of the Victorian Government’s 2021/22 Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

ELECTION SNAPSHOT
Commitments in Mitchell Shire
We're very excited about the wide range of election commitments that will support Mitchell Shire.
We've had a visit from the Prime Minister, commitments for the Camerons Lane Interchange in Beveridge, the Seymour Community Wellbeing Hub, Greenhill Reserve oval upgrades, roads funding and a pledge to kickstart the Greenhill Recreation Precinct in Wallan.

BROADFORD CUSTOMER AND LIBRARY SERVICE CENTRE CHANGES
We're partnering with the Victorian Government to refurbish and redesign the Broadford Customer and Library Service Centre to create more library space and better access for customers.
The centre will be closed until the end of June while the work is underway.
A Customer and Library Services Officer will be available at the Broadford Living and Learning Centre, 156-158 High Street, Broadford (opposite Broadfuel) on weekdays from 9am to 5pm during the closure.

HUME FREEWAY WORKS AT BEVERIDGE
Regional Roads Victoria is improving the surface on the Hume Freeway southbound off-ramp at Beveridge and at the intersection of Lithgow Street and the Old Hume Freeway.
A closure of the off-ramp at Beveridge will be required during night works and a detour in place for Hume Freeway motorists travelling south.
Works are expected to begin on Sunday 22 May and take approximately two weeks, weather permitting. The off-ramp will be closed to all traffic from 7pm to 7am during this time.
Works at the intersection of Lithgow Street and the Old Hume Highway at Beveridge will begin on Sunday 5 June and take approximately two weeks, weather permitting.
While works are underway, on-site traffic management will be in place and speeds will be reduced.

RATES INSTALLMENT
Assistance available for hardship
The fourth 2021/22 rates instalment is due on Tuesday 31 May.
If you are experiencing financial hardship please contact us as assistance may be available under Council’s Financial Hardship policy.

SPORTS VOUCHERS
Financial support to get active
The Victorian Government recently announced $12.3 million for the continuation of the Get Active Kids Voucher Program.
The program provides eligible parents and guardians with a $200 voucher to help with the costs of membership, registration, uniforms and equipment.

SAY NO TO THE QUARRY
|
Show your support for the NO QUARRY campaign at Parliament House
Join your friends and neighbours on the steps of Parliament House on Wednesday 8 June to make sure your voice is heard by those who will make the final decision on the Beveridge/Wallan quarry.
We will be running a free bus to Parliament House and back with pick-ups in Wallan and Beveridge. Bookings essential.
You can also contact your local Members and Ministers and tell them why you don't want a quarry. It's important they hear your voice.
This quarry isn't a done deal. So make your sure your voice is heard.

Apply for a kinder place in 2022/23
Applications for the 4-year-old and 3-year-old kindergarten program are open for 2022 and 2023. Round one applications close Wednesday 1 June.
Mitchell Kindergarten service facilities are located across 11 sites in Beveridge, Broadford, Flowerdale, Kilmore, Pyalong, Seymour, Wallan, Wallan East and Wandong.
