Public Health Ontario is mapping at-risk areas for Lyme disease in 2019 and GBA will publicize the map when available. These ticks appear to be spreading throughout the province and moving north.

GBF Job Opportunity - Microplastics Project Coordinator

Georgian Bay Forever is offering a 2-year contract for a Microplastics Project Coordinator for their Parry Sound project. Reporting to the Executive Director of Georgian Bay Forever (GBF), the Divert & Capture Project Coordinator is responsible for the planning, organization and delivery of goals for this project through a variety of outreach and coordination activities in and around the community of Parry Sound and along the eastern coastline communities.

Ford Government withdraws controversial provisions in Bill 66

Vital protections for source water, watersheds, greenbelt and environmentally significant areas were threatened by Bill 66. Thankfully the Ford government has listened to the many submissions from ENGOs and others requesting that Bill 66be amended.

January 26th Water Levels Report

Temperatures were generally below average for the Great Lakes region over the last week. Substantial precipitation also fell in certain parts of the basin, with more predicted over the next week, including in the Georgian Bay area.
