Salamanca Pedestrian Improvements

The City of Hobart is commencing the next stage of works on the precinct connecting Salamanca Place to Hobart’s waterfront. The upgrade will give the area fresh, contemporary feel and provide a high-quality, safe and accessible space for everyone.

The project will be delivered in stages and is scheduled to commence on 9 April 2019 continuing through until December 2019.  Stage one will commence with stormwater replacement works, followed by the removal of the grassed island at the intersection of Castray Esplanade, Gladstone Street and Morrison Street.

At various stages of construction, lane and road closures will be required. Signage will be erected to redirect pedestrians around the closure. Safe pedestrian access and crossing points will always be provided.

Work will start at 7 am and finish at 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday. If weekend or after hours work is required, the City will make every effort to inform the community.

To find out more about the project, we invite you to attend a pre-construction drop-in session where the project team will be available to answer questions about the design and construction process. Details as follows:

Date:              Wednesday, 3 April 2019
Time:             4 pm – 5.30 pm
