Message from the Scientific Director

I am writing to update you about a new chapter in my career. In September 2014, I will be stepping down as IGH’s Scientific Director a year early in order to take up the role of Vice-President Research at Simon Fraser University.

I look forward to this exciting new opportunity with mixed emotions. My work at IGH has been the most rewarding of my career, in large part because I have an outstanding staff and Institute Advisory Board to work with, and because it has afforded me the opportunity to meet and work with IGH’s exceptional research community.

I am aware that a transition such as this may create uncertainty for the research and stakeholder communities we serve. It is the IGH team and board’s shared intention to use this transition as an opportunity to further strengthen IGH’s reputation as a leading research funding institute and to continue delivering on our goals of integration, innovation, and impact.

I am confident that IGH is in a very strong position and that the transition to a new Scientific Director will be smooth – indeed IGH represents a diverse, growing, collegial community of passionate individuals with a shared commitment to shaping science for a healthier world.

The search for a new Scientific Director for IGH will begin soon and I am confident that the work of IGH will continue to push the boundaries of gender, sex and health research.

Sincerely,

Joy Johnson
