Innovation Programme for Tourism Recovery

It may sometimes feel that the big government funds are out of our reach, but this one is specifically for our industry.  We must take every opportunity, no matter the scale of our aspirations and our destination management plans.

If you have a transformative solutions-based innovation project, for which you can make a full proposal and business case, now is this time to check eligibility for Stream Two of this fund.

MBIE is accepting expressions of interest until 01 September 2023. This is a $44 million contestable fund for projects that will have a meaningful impact across the tourism system. While 50% co-funding will need to be sourced in many cases, if the project will have a significant positive community or sector-wide impact, 25% of co-funding may be accepted.

Discussing Tourism Election Forum

If we want to shape a stronger tourism industry, together we are more powerful and the more we can achieve.

Tourism Industry Aotearoa and Wellington Airport are hosting a pre-election forum in the Grand Halls of Parliament for in-person attendees and streamed online. This is an opportunity to hear from the major political parties about their vision for the tourism industry.  Hosted by political and business journalist Corin Dann, each party will speak for 5 minutes on their tourism policy and then there will be a Q & A session. Our chance to get our questions in front of the politicians.

Monday 14 August, 4-6pm.
Free for TIA Members.
Non-members are welcome to attend in-person at a cost of $49, or online at $25.

Register here by 10 August.
