Women's Media Group Scholarship for Girls Write Now 

$2,000 Scholarship + 3-Year Networking Membership

Since 2022, Girls Write Now mentor Nevin Mays has worked with Women's Media Group (WMG) to create a scholarship specially for Girls Write Now in order to extend the group's benefits to new communities. All students who receive financial support of $2K from WMG also receive free membership to WMG for three years while they’re in school or starting their media careers, enabling each WMG Scholar to participate in all networking events, career-development programs and workshops, and opportunities to socialize.

2026 Applications are open until May 4.

Our most recent session equipped mentors with psychologically informed strategies to better support youth facing uncertainty in their social, political, and personal lives. Dr. Kristie Norwood, Clinical Psychologist and Director of Student Counseling Center at Hampton University, led the conversation.

Research Associate

Reporting to the Director of Presidential Initiatives, the Research Associate prepares research-based analysis of topics related to the program’s grantmaking; provides writing and analysis for correspondence, presentations, strategic memorandum, and reports; and collaborates with other research-related functions across the Foundation. They may also assist in the review and preparation of materials in the grantmaking process and coordinate with external consultants who are conducting research on behalf of the program. This role will include occasional travel for site visits and research, meetings, and programs nationwide.

Center for Craft

Craft Archive Fellowship

The Center for Craft is now accepting applications for the 2026 Craft Archive Fellowship, offering four $5,000 awards to support research on underrepresented craft histories in the United States. The fellowship is open to a range of scholars—from emerging to established, including independent and artist researchers—to conduct archival research on feminist, intersectional, queer, Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian American and Pacific Islander, and other nondominant craft histories. Fellows will have the opportunity to engage in both conventional and innovative archival research, culminating in a special feature in Hyperallergic and a virtual program hosted by the Center for Craft in September 2027.

Girls Write Now Scholarship

Women’s Media Group (WMG) will award one $2,000 scholarship to be used to support the scholar recipient’s writing, with preference to a rising college junior or senior who is a current Girls Write Now mentee or mentee alum. WMG encourages students from underrepresented populations and/or economically disadvantaged backgrounds to apply.

You do NOT need to have “media” in the title of your major! You only need to demonstrate interest in the media industry through coursework, clubs, extracurricular activities, internships, jobs, leadership skills, or experience.
