The Christmas cards were designed by High School pupils during their Art classes with Ms Rogers and Mr Hanan. The ten best designs were chosen. You can purchase these Christmas cards online or in school at lunch breaks. Library Ireland WeekThis week is Library Ireland Week. To celebrate we are making posters that reveal what staff and pupils are currently reading. The posters are on display around the school, so keep a look-out! If you want your own poster made, contact the Library and one will be made for you. Team HopeOur Team Hope charity wall is progressing well. Already the donation spaces are filling up. This is how it works: pupils who raise €20 have a "brick" with their name on it added to the wall. It is a visual representation of the amount that has been donated so far. We hope to fill the entire wall with the names of donors. It is for a worthwhile cause and one that has been negatively affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Hopefully, our generosity will not be. Form
4 pupils have been busily promoting the appeal and collecting funds at Senior and Junior breaks all week, so if you would like to donate on your own or with a friend or sibling, please get in touch and help us to achieve our goal. We look forward to adding your name to our Team Hope donation wall. European Commission CompetitionLast week, pupils from Forms 5 and 6 participated in the European Commission's Young Translators compeition in French and German. This is the 14th annual Young Translators competition for secondary-school pupils from across Europe. A total of 705 schools participated each having nominated two to five pupils to take part in the contest. The winners of the online competition – one per country – will be announced in early February 2021. If conditions allow, they will receive their prizes at a ceremony in Brussels in Spring 2021 when they will also have a chance to meet professional translators from the Commission and get to know more about working with languages. Good luck to all those who participated. Form 6 Chocolate BrunchLast week Form 6 pupils enjoyed a surprise chocolate brunch courtesy of The High School Parents' Association. The pupils had spent the morning attending an online refresher study skills course so the refreshments came as a very welcome and timely surprise. On behalf of the pupils, we should should like to thank The High Shcool Parents' Association for this thoughtful gesture and the catering staff for putting the plan into action! |
