Our spring Exhibition Nights will be held from 5-6:30pm on Wednesday, June 6 for 5th-8th grades, and Thursday, June 7 for TK-4th. Bring your family and your appetite! Bread & Cheese and Fern’s Semi-Famous BBQ trucks will be serving up some tasty selections for purchase beginning at 4:30pm in front of UDA. RockSTAR Performance at the House of BluesOur young RockSTARS are getting amped up to once again rock the house at San Diego’s House of Blues on Tuesday, June 5! ELAC MeetingOn Thursday, May 24, UDA’s English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) will meet from 3:45-4:45pm in the conference room. The primary functions of this committee are to make recommendations regarding programming and supports offered by the school to English Learners, identify potential school-related challenges faced by students and families and offer resources, and increase the voice and participation of underrepresented families. This meeting is open to all families. We hope to see you there! Scholastic Book FairThe final Scholastic Book Fair is coming soon! The “Buy One, Get One Free” fair will take place from May 29- June 1 in the library. We will need volunteers to help with set-up, clean-up, and book sales, so please click here to sign up for a shift. Book Fair volunteers helping after school will be provided with free after-care by STAR until 4pm. Fourth GradeStudents in 4th grade are learning about energy in science. During this unit of study, 4th graders designed, constructed, and launched a bottle rocket! In addition to exploring these processes, the students also enjoyed learning about the differences between matter and energy. Eighth GradeThank you to our wonderful 8th grade chaperones, Mr. Eash, Mrs. Waldrip, and Mrs. Paniagua, for volunteering their time and supporting our 8th grade class throughout their overnight educational experience on Catalina Island. Visual ArtsFirst graders are working on broadening their sewing skills in visual arts. Students are creating an interactive spider web in their quiet books using an electric sewing machine! Camp Urban SolThis summer, the UDA Foundation will once again host Camp Urban Sol, an assortment of half-day courses taught by credentialed teachers. Participating students will continue to learn over summer through hands-on activities, experiments, community adventures, and play. July 9-August 3, 2018 A Message from Network ParentsNetwork Meeting Minutes Summer Kick-Off Social Top Notch LunchesTo order a hot lunch for your child, first create an account with Top Notch. User accounts from last year do not carry over, so all parents must register for the 2017-2018 year. To register, click on “Order Online Today” from the homepage, then select “Register.” On this page, you will need to enter the password for UDA, which is URA6. Upon entering the password, you will be able to complete the registration process by creating your own username and password. Families that meet the free or reduced qualification according to this form will receive discounted Top Notch lunches. The discount will be automatically applied to each order. Online orders must be placed by 6pm on the day before the lunch delivery. Top Notch can not supply lunches requested after this deadline. Reporting AbsencesPlease remember to report student absences by 9:00 am on the day of your child’s absence.
