This will help people both in a competition driving situation or even during regular street driving when something unexpected happens. HOWEVER! This event is not strictly for novices. While this event will have a focus on novices, we will have many guest instructors from the Pennsylvania Hillclimb Association! These guys will be able to teach intermediate level drivers a few tips and tricks on how to handle their car better while pushing the limit even further. If you are an intermediate level driver looking for this level of instruction, please reach out to me at Cbrown@susq-scca.com and let me know. We can get you paired up with an instructor that has a similar platform to your own so you get the most out of your day. Don’t forget! Lunch is included for this event as well. Thanks, by Henry Brillinger We are once again scheduled to run an autocross school on the Carlisle Events autocross track. Howard Duncan, current Senior Director, Rally/Solo, organized the first Solo event that SCCA put on for Carlisle’s Custom Compact Show on May 2-4, 2003 after we convinced Carlisle that SCCA could do a better job than the National Auto Sport Association (NASA) did for them the previous year. Harold successfully sold the program and our Region ran combination Autocrosses and schools from 2003 through 2007 and Autocrosses from 2008 through 2014 at Carlisle. The ¼ mile track layout is unique. It is configured so that it is completely enclosed by chain link fence on two sides, snow fence and a chain link fence in front of the spectator viewing area located on a bluff 25 feet high overlooking the track on a third side and snow fence and water barrels on the fourth side where the registration tent and track entrance and exit are located. Now we are back at it again. We appealed to Carlisle Events to allow us to use their track on a weekend when no other events will be operating there, and they agreed. We are now scheduled to run an autocross school there on the weekend of June 30 and July 1. For more about Henry’s discussions with Carlisle events, visit our website. Photo Credit: Tom Hamm Photography Three Down, One to Go! by Bryan Roper Have you ever wondered about what happens behind the scenes to make an event happen? Do you want to help make our events even better? We’re looking for individuals who would like to learn the functions that make our events possible such as course design, registration, tech, timing, and safety. If you would like to become a part of the team, please contact rallycross@scca-susq.com to get started. As always, we’re still seeking additional venues in the hopes of adding more events. So if you know of a lot somewhere in the region that would be appropriate for holding a RallyCross, please let us know. Check out the results and get registered for the final points event of the season! Autocross Season is Underway by Chris Benfer We're also still looking for good venues for next year and preparing for an Autocross school on July 1st, so things have been busy! Check out the May's results, and don't forget to register for our next event on July 8!
Venue Update: Farm Show by Henry Brillinger I pointed out that the Farm Show had just been leased to Lancaster-based Blackford Ventures, the venture capital company, with a bid of $200 million for a lease lasting 29 years. I wondered if Blackford Ventures was instrumental in prohibiting our use of the lot, and offered to investigate. A Piece of History, for Sale We were recently contacted by a woman with this SSCC grill badge. It belongs to her son and it was originally his dad’s until he passed away. The father restored classic cars for about 20 years. This has been in their family for at least 30 years, and they’re looking to part with it. If you’re interested, please contact Marilyn at 508.287.1259 and make her an offer. Director's Chair by Jack Burrows, Area 2 Director June Regional MeetingThursday, June 28th • 7:30 p.m. Our next meeting will be held on the second floor at Appalachian Brewing Company, 50 N. Cameron Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101. All members are encouraged to attend. Come an hour early for dinner (and a drink) with other members. Meeting Agenda

News from SCCA Take 5: With Danny Kao MAY 22, 2018 — He got into autocross because the Miata he bought for $1300 couldn’t pass tech for a local track day. He was told to try autocross by the track guys, so he did. After attending two more track days, he found autocrossing to be more fun, and has been at it ever since. Introducing Membership Retention/Referral Program JUNE 1, 2018 — It’s awesome to be an SCCA member and have fun with cars with your friends. Speaking of friends, we are launching a new program to make it easier, more fun and more rewarding to help them become SCCA members. Click below to see how it works RallyCross Learning Curve May 23, 2018 — In SCCA Rallycross, the shortest path to success runs through the driver seat, not the garage. Most RallyCross competitors agree that better performance is easier to find through driver preparation and education than it is through vehicle upgrades. Response to Time Trial Questions JUNE 14, 2017 — As a 25-year SCCA member, I have had the opportunity to participate in hundreds of SCCA events as a competitor, volunteer, regional official, and now as Chairman of the SCCA Board of Directors. I was thrilled, both as a member of leadership and as a competitor. ——— Sponsors ———2018 Event Schedule 7/08/18: AX #7 & #8, Farm Show We are in search of new venues for both autocross and rallycross programs, so the 2018 schedules are subject to additions/changes. 2018 OfficersRegional Exec: Kristen Poole 2018 Meeting Schedule Regional Meetings: 2018 Rules Contributions:Have suggestions for the type of articles or info you'd like to see in The Squeal?
