FURRY FRIENDS GET A NEW PLAY SPACE
In some exciting news for the dog lovers of Mitchell Shire, a fenced, off-leash dog park is being built in Kilmore.
We’ve allocated $30,000 to the park which will be constructed near the Kilmore Racecourse, at the corner of East Street and Kilmore East Road.
The park is not able to be used just yet, but we’ll let people know when they can head down there. We’ll keep you updated regularly on our Animals of Mitchell Shire Facebook page.

IT'S LIGHTS ON
The switch is flicked in Broadford
Broadford's Harley Hammond Reserve is home to four new 30-metre high light towers, improving visibility and safety across the ground for participants and spectators.
This is in addition to the oval being reconstructed in 2017, which provided a new playing surface, irrigation and drainage.
The lighting upgrade cost $297,000 and was fully funded by Mitchell Shire Council.

THE SHACK IS BACK
New building ready to open
The new Upper Plenty Mechanics Institute Hall, or “The Shack” as it’s affectionately known, is ready to reopen after fire ravished the original building.
The hall burned down in 2015, not long after being refurbished. The new building will take pride of place on the original site, keeping true to the old design.
The cost of the rebuild has largely come from The Shack’s insurance, and Council contributed $116,000.

ROAD NAME CHANGE PROPOSED
|
Give us your ideas for Minton Street, Beveridge
We’re proposing to rename an unbuilt road reserve, which forms part of Minton Street, Beveridge, to Camerons Lane.
As part of a recent subdivision review, we've decided to rename this section to Camerons Lane to better reflect its location, avoid confusion and to help emergency vehicles to locate these areas of Beveridge.

How’s your Plastic Free July mission going? If you’re not on board, it’s not too late to join in.
Did you know that almost every piece of plastic that was ever made still exists on earth somewhere? And that more plastic has been produced in the first 10 years of this century than the entire last century? It’s a worry.
To help you learn a little bit more about plastic pollution, why not cast your eyes over one of these documentaries to inspire, inform or help you in your Plastic Free July challenge.
