Atlanta Region’s Population Growth Picks up Steam

The Atlanta region's population is growing at a faster rate than any time since the recession. Fueled by employment growth, the 10-county region added 69,200 residents between April 2015 and April 2016, according to the Atlanta Regional Commission’s latest annual population estimates, pushing the region's total population to 4,401,800.

RSVP Courses Promote Healthy Living — and Healthy Sexuality — for Older Adults

It's no secret that older adults engage in intimate relationships, but many of them don’t like talking about sex, even with their doctors. To promote healthy sexual activity and help reduce STIs among older adults, ARC volunteers now teach a “Healthy Sexuality as We Age” class.

Photographers wanted! The Metro Water District's annual Water Reflections Calendar Photo Contest will award cash and other prizes for the region's best water photos. Submit your photos by Sept. 9.

Teachers, parents, students: It's time for the annual Middle School Water Essay contest. Middle school students can earn cash prizes for their winning essays about the importance of water conservation in our region. Deadline to submit essays is Oct. 21.

Storm the Watershed! A new 15K/5K Trail Run and Water Festival is coming to Henry County's Cubihatcha Outdoor Education Center on Oct. 22.

Congratulations to ARC board member and Palmetto Mayor Clark Boddie! Mayor Boddie was inducted into GMA's Municipal Government Hall of Fame in Savannah this summer. The Hall of Fame honors municipal officials who exemplify the best in public service, and who, throughout their careers, have made extraordinary contributions to their communities and Georgia’s cities. 

Do you know a great place in the Atlanta region? Nominations are now being accepted for ARC's annual Developments of Excellence Awards. The deadline to submit a nomination is Aug. 31.

Harry West Visionary Leadership Award - ARC is accepting nominations for individuals who exemplify outstanding community service, inspired leadership and commitment to the Atlanta region. The recipient of the Harry West Visionary Leadership Award will be recognized Oct. 28 at ARC's State of the Region Breakfast. The deadline for nominations is Sept. 18.

Mobile Career Resource Center

The ARWDB Mobile Career Resource Center is a 13-station, state-of-the-art, fully accessible computer lab. The unit offers an array of services, a private interview area and a classroom area that can be divided into two separate rooms.
