Driving Force

It was almost a full year ago that someone suggested I start these newsletters. It felt like the right thing to do at the time and with each one I gain more and more clarity as to why. So, thank you. Thank you for continuing to join me on this journey.

That said, if you read only one thing in this newsletter please let it be the last article. It's a piece I quoted that I wish the whole world could read.

The ego moves us to seek justice or revenge.  To right a perceived wrong.  The higher self knows, that the universe will rebalance all actions at the appropriate time, in an appropriate way, in accordance with the whole cosmos.                       ~  Deepak Chopra

Awareness + Perception = Potential For Change

It took me a long time to finish this month's newsletter. I had ideas written down, but with everything that's going on in the news lately all the things I wrote seemed so small in comparison. My intention is to share ideas that are relevant, interesting and useful. What I would really like to focus on is the idea that if we alter our perception of the world, we will alter our experience with it. However, we first need to be aware of said world and what's going on in it.

There are so many ways to get information these days, but with that comes just as many different biases and one-sided views. I find it frightening to read articles which condemn one side and make the other blameless victims. How unfortunate that people use their influence and power to continue the cycle of fear and hate. It does not serve any of us.

Therefore read from different sources, keep an open mind and remember this: we are all just trying to survive. Unfortunately there are many places in the world where there is a massive suppression of ideas, women and basic natural impulses and this does not open the door to love, gratitude and acceptance. It only breads fear and hate. But what if by raising our own vibrations we can begin to heal the rest of the world? I'll get into the science of that in another newsletter. The bottom line is that it starts with us, our awareness and our perception."

“When another person makes you suffer, it is because he suffers deeply within himself, and his suffering is spilling over. He does not need punishment; he needs help. That's the message he is sending.”

Helping From a Far, Doing What We Can

I invite you to take a look through this website on your own, but here is their mission statement at a glance:

ForgottenSong works in countries that have experienced war within the past 10 years. War deeply affects social and economic structure, leaves childen orphaned and women widowed. ForgottenSong strives to empower & restore these communities to a place of sustainability by equipping them with skills and resources that will fight cycles of poverty & violence from its roots.

Particularly with what is going on around the world right now, we need people and organizations like this one.

I met the man responsible for this organization at a lecture a few months ago. When I looked through the site I was so incredibly impressed that I asked if I could include Forgotten Song in a future newsletter. The answer was of course, yes.

"In the journey through life, there are two approaches you can take. The first is the backseat approach, accepting the first thing life puts in your path and making do. While this way certainly reduces the stress of decision-making, the final outcome is rarely one of fulfillment. Then there's the second approach: living a life filled with intention. This way involves opening your eyes to your true needs and desires and acting on them."                                                          ~Unknown

My Life as a Video Game

This newsletter would not be complete without an update about My Life as a VG. Season 1 part 3 is about to air. But first, a short teaser.

A Thought About Peace, Humanity and the Stars

The words that follow are not mine. They are from an article I was sent about the new moon in Leo which takes place this Saturday July 26th. It is not a piece about one side being right, it is about every human being having a right to exist in peace. (I have made cuts and put some sentences in bold. The link to the full article is at the bottom).

"It would be easier, in a way, to leave Israel out of this post. It would probably be more popular. People want to feel good and forget. Disassociate. Decompress. But if we separate the astrology from the history that is in the making, we miss the point entirely. And the point, when Jupiter is in the mix, is to never, ever, give up hope.

The chart for the conception of Israel has the moon at 4’40 Leo (sharing the same sign that Pluto, Saturn and Mars were in at the time, only the most violent, repressive, and utterly destructive dudes out there). This week’s new moon occurs at 3’52 Leo with Jupiter at 2’20. That’s a pretty tight orb. That’s a pretty intense revisiting. This new moon is an invitation to get creative and grow our hearts...Right through religious differences...Right to the center of our responsibility as humans on this planet; to remember how to love one another. We are family.

I know that is no simple task...But I also know that all people should have the right to exist in peace. To grow vegetables and children, educational institutions and a sense of self. No country should be allowed to exist on the backs of another’s freedom or on the blood of their children.

There is a fine line between protecting our family by hurting another’s and remembering that others are ours to protect.  War will never bring peace.

Israel is a prayer. When I utter the words I am praying for every Palestinian as well as every Israeli. I am praying for the land that has seen too many atrocities, too many nightmares, too many acts of brutality. I pray that hope, love and tolerance not be wiped from our hearts because we find ourselves filled with such despair.

If our heart is a weapon, may we aim it and fire in the appropriate direction, in the direction of our humanity. May we assault the forces in us that refuse to see others as human beings and may we learn to reclaim and retell stories about ourselves and each other. May we dismantle the loudspeakers that tell us others deserve to suffer so that we may prosper. May we annihilate racism and demolish the walls that strip away dignity. May we ring the alarm so loud that it awakens the ferocious beast in our heart that is hungry, starving even, to remember how to hope, how to love and how to be loved in return."

The new moon will occur on Saturday, July 26 at 3:42 pm PST
